Community Assisting Neighbors

Volunteering at the Crystal Lake Food Pantry can be the most rewarding volunteering you have ever done. The goal is to make our neighbor’s visits as enjoyable as possible. Our mission is that “no one should go hungry.” Working under the guidance of the Team Leader, CLFP Food Manager and Director of Operations you might be called upon to perform many of the opportunities noted below:

• Walk alongside our neighbors helping with the selection and quantities of food to fulfill their family needs.
• Assist with the sorting and staging of food we have received from our generous stores in the area. Types of food requiring sorting and staging could include bakery, deli product, meat and produce.
• Assuring there is a supply of food available for our neighbors by restocking the cooler, freezer and produce on the floor throughout the shift. Some tasks might require the ability to lift 40 pounds.
• Help maintain the cleanliness policy of the pantry by washing and sanitizing food containers used for the processing and display of food. Removal of trash and cardboard as necessary.
